1. “What kind of travel insurance do I really need?”

The answer depends on where you’re going, what you’re doing, how much your trip costs, and how much flexibility you want.

Trawick’s Pathway Collection offers four flexible Trip Cancellation options:

  • Pathway Premium: Ideal for high-cost, bucket-list trips or travelers who want the best protection, including optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) and Adventure Sports coverage.
  • Pathway Plus: Great for families or travelers with pre-existing conditions—this plan includes a pre-existing waiver when purchased early.
  • Pathway Essential: Perfect for shorter or budget-conscious trips, with optional adventure coverage.
  • Pathway Domestic: Designed specifically for trips within the U.S., when your health insurance may already cover you medically, but you still want protection for delays or cancellations.

2. “Can I cancel for any reason?”

Yes—if you have a plan that includes CFAR.

The Pathway Premium plan offers optional CFAR and IFAR, reimbursing up to 75% of your trip cost. It must be purchased within 21 days of your initial trip deposit.

Advisors: remind clients this coverage is ideal for travelers who want maximum flexibility or are worried about last-minute life changes.

3. “What if I get sick or injured while traveling?”

This is one of the most important reasons to have travel insurance—and one of the most misunderstood.

Many domestic health insurance plans (like Medicare) don’t cover you internationally. That’s where primary emergency medical coverage becomes essential.

All four plans in the Pathway Collection include primary medical coverage and emergency evacuation, giving travelers fast access to care without worrying about out-of-pocket costs or complex reimbursement paperwork.

For travelers spending extended time abroad, not insuring trip costs, or seeking coverage for major medical expenses (rather than cancellations), Trawick also offers robust Travel Medical Insurance plans:

  • Coverage up to $1,000,000
  • Emergency medical evacuation
  • Renewable for up to 24 months
  • Available for U.S. citizens and residents traveling outside the U.S.
  • Affordable options for students, digital nomads, and retirees living abroad temporarily

Advisors: If your client isn’t worried about trip cancellation but is heading abroad for weeks or months, this type of plan may be more appropriate than a traditional trip protection policy.

4. “I’m planning adventure activities. Will I be covered?”

Standard travel insurance often excludes activities like skiing, scuba diving, or zip-lining.

Trawick lets you add the Adventure & Extreme Sports Coverage to the Premium, Plus, or Essential plans, so thrill-seekers can travel fully protected.

5. “What happens if there’s a long delay or lost bags?”

Pathway plans come with benefits for:

  • Trip delays (up to $1,000)
  • Lost or delayed baggage
  • Missed connections

These perks aren’t just about coverage—they’re about comfort too.

6. “What if I have a pre-existing condition?”

Travelers can still get coverage—as long as they purchase the plan early (usually within 7-21 days of their first trip payment). Both Premium and Plus plans offer pre-ex waivers when purchased in that window.

Advisors: it’s crucial to flag this timing requirement, so clients don’t miss out on this important coverage option.

7. “When should I buy travel insurance?”

The best time to buy? As soon as you book your trip. That way, travelers qualify for CFAR, pre-existing waivers, and other early purchase benefits. Waiting too long can limit available coverage.
