Why should I buy travel insurance for my trip to Portugal?
If you require a Schengen Visa, you must purchase travel medical insurance to apply for the visa to enter Portugal and other Schengen countries. For all travelers, regardless of visa status or requirement, we recommend purchasing a comprehensive trip cancellation insurance plan that protects the investment you made into the trip and provides additional coverage should something unforeseen happen while visiting. Trawick International trip cancellations plans also offer benefits for travel delay and trip interruption and, on select plans, Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) optional coverage is available.
What is the optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit?
On select trip cancellation plans, Trawick International offers the hard-to-find Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) benefit. CFAR provides reimbursement for 75% of the prepaid, nonrefundable, forfeited payments of your trip if you cancel for any reason not covered by the base policy, such as border closures, travel bans, or even fear of travel. This coverage MUST be purchased with the initial policy and within 21 days of the initial trip deposit, and the full, nonrefundable trip cost must be insured. (This benefit is not available in every state).
Do Trawick International plans cover COVID-19?
Yes. Most Trawick International travel insurance plans treat COVID-19 like any other illness.
How much does travel insurance cost?
Several factors determine the cost of travel insurance, such as your age, trip cost, length of trip, plan purchased, and optional benefits added. When purchasing a plan with trip cancellation, we recommend that you include all non-refundable travel expenses so you can recover the investment in the event your trip is canceled or interrupted. By bundling all your trip costs into one policy, you will be able to obtain the most coverage possible for your trip.
When should I buy travel insurance?
To maximize your benefits, we recommend purchasing travel insurance within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date and include all prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs. By doing this, you will be eligible for CFAR and financial default on select trip cancellation plans. You can purchase travel insurance up until the day before departure. However, if it is purchased after the 21-day window, you may not be eligible for certain travel insurance benefits.
