Is travel insurance required to enter the United Kingdom?

International travelers do not have to provide travel insurance to enter the United Kingdom, which consists of England, Scotland, and Wales.  The Gov.UK website states that international travelers have to follow some travel regulations when entering the United Kingdom.  To protect the population from the COVID-19 virus, the United Kingdom has implemented a system to check where travelers have come from. When you arrive, the rules for testing and quarantine are different for each color designated country you have arrived from.

Why should you buy Travel Insurance to visit the United Kingdom?

When traveling internationally, your primary health insurance may not cover you. Buying a travel insurance plan with emergency medical coverage is highly recommend to ensure you are covered should you fall ill or become accidentally injured. Anyone traveling to the United Kingdom should purchase a trip cancellation policy with travel medical, trip delay, and interruption coverage. On select trip cancellations plans, Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) is offered for the utmost protection.

(This benefit is not available in every US state).

How much does travel insurance cost?

Travel insurance cost is based on your age, trip cost, length of trip, and other factors. When purchasing a plan with trip cancellation, you should include all non-refundable travel expenses so you can recover the investment in the event your trip is canceled or interrupted.

When should I buy travel insurance?

Suppose you are interested in adding the CFAR benefit to your trip cancellation plan. In that case, you must purchase your insurance for your trip within 21 days of the initial trip deposit date and include all prepaid, nonrefundable trip costs.  You can still purchase travel insurance after 21 days, but you may not be eligible for time-sensitive benefits.
